What you’ll do

• Check legibility and completeness of requisitions in preparation for data entry, follow up on discrepancies with Physicians, other medical staff and outside institutions.
• Enter data from requisitions according to established procedures by entering coded and uncoded data into the laboratory computer system. Enter Physician names to generate labels.
• Use the computer to generate reports and labels such as Daily Cumulative Reports, collection lists, patient identification labels, specimen labels and Physician address labels.
• Record collection details such as who collected, type of collection and other comments noted by Technologists/Laboratory Assistants.
• Match bar code labels with collection lists.
• Review error messages/encounter numbers/chart numbers on reports such as Interface Reports, Multiple Encounter Reports, Duplicate Patients Reports, and makes adjustments according to established procedures to ensure patient information is accurate and up to date with Admitting Records and to avoid duplication.
• Distribute reports, faxes and incoming mail.
• Answer telephone, responds to clerical inquiries and redirects calls as appropriate. Receive and direct visitors to appropriate areas.
• Review billing statements to ensure completeness of information and sends to Accounting Receivable with corrections.
