Responsibilities

• Schedule appointments using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
• Greet patients upon arrival and advise nurse of their arrival
• Complete reminder/screening calls to patients
• Track no shows and advise referring physicians of trends
• Maintain inventory of office supplies
• Attend FHT/VCC meetings as required
• Participate in problem-solving to enhance patient care
• Ensure all conversations with patients are documented in the EMR
• Maintain confidential patient health records
• Create invoices and track payments for non-OHIP services
• Receive incoming telephone calls and respond or forward them as appropriate
• Encourage patients to register with Health Care Connect as appropriate
• Scan documents into the EMR
• Perform other duties as assigned, which are directly related to the duties of this position

Qualifications

• Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication, interpersonal and public relations and problem-solving skills
• Proficiency in computer applications: Windows, Microsoft Office programs, email and internet research.
• Previous medical office experience required
• Previous experience with Electronic Medical Records considered an asset
• Experience in telephone triage and booking appointments, preferably in a family medicine practice
